Testing is a momentous occasion for students and a proud moment for their instructor, marking important milestones in the journey of a martial artist. As such, our goal is to provide Kyu certificates quickly and easily for both instructors and students, helping to celebrate and recognize the achievements of our Kobukan community.
Below is the form all instructors should use to submit Kyu tests, which provides the necessary information needed to issue certificates, as well as, ensure the information is correct. In addition, we’d like to share some ideas to help make this an even more positive impact for your student and your school.
The Certificate Process
- Once the form and fee is completed, Kobukan Honbu issues a certificate, along with a certificate #. The Kyu test fee is $30, which covers operational process and time as outlined. Instructors are free to charge a higher amount for the test itself, at their discretion, keeping any amount above the certificate fee as income.
- During this time the certificate details are cataloged on our website. The student and instructor can then search for the record on the Member Dashboard to provide transparency. Please note – We show enough information to show the record, while avoiding details to ensure privacy.
- An email is sent to the instructor, using the instructor email provided on the form below. This email has PDFs of the certificates attached. While we try to have these to you as soon as possible, please leave 1 to 2 weeks for delivery.
- The instructor prints the certificate on A4, white card stock.
- After printed, the instructor signs the certificate in the designated area (left side, under the kanji) to formalize it. If the instructor has a dojo stamp, you can also affix it to the certificate to authenticate it further.
- We recommend giving formal recognition when presenting the certificate, helping to make the moment special. This is also an excellent time to share a photo of the student with the certificate on your Dojo’s social media page, further recognizing the achievement and promoting the impact your school is having in your local community.
